Every relationship we have, every situation we face will eventually resolve through the consequences of decisions we and those around us make. The only complete power we have is over our own decision-making.
The poorer our decision-making skills are, the more pain and suffering we are likely to cause ourselves and others. When we engage in thoughts, deeds and actions unconsciously or ignorantly, we are more likely to cause harm than if we are fully present to our thoughts, deeds and actions.
On this basis, it is not only important, but vital (life-giving) that we incline ourselves to the conscious work of growing in wisdom and proceeding in loving ways.
There is no end to the unnecessary difficulty we cause to ourselves and others when we carelessly think, say and act in ways that bring harm to ourselves and others.
So, for today, we can choose to:
Construct rather than destruct
Heal rather than harm
Regard every single bit of life we encounter with reverence rather than disacknowledgment.
