Adv. Lillian Ramcharan
Advocate Lillian Ramcharan is an admitted Advocate of the High Court of South Africa and a member of the South African Bar Association. She brings over 16 years of combined experience across the corporate legal environment and private practice, offering clients a well-rounded, commercially astute approach to legal problem-solving.
Her core areas of expertise include labour and employment law, commercial and contractual law, Road Accident Fund litigation, corporate compliance and governance, and general civil and labour litigation. Advocate Ramcharan is particularly skilled in managing complex disputes, providing strategic legal advice, and delivering practical, results-driven solutions tailored to each client’s needs.
She holds an LLB and an LLM in Labour Law from UNISA, as well as a qualification in Labour Dispute Resolution Practice from the University of the Witwatersrand. In addition, she is accredited as a Civil and Commercial Mediator through Mediation Pan Africa and holds certifications in Fundamentals of International Commercial and Investment Arbitration and Medical Malpractice Mediation.
Advocate Ramcharan’s professional experience includes chairing disciplinary hearings, representing clients in conciliation, mediation, and arbitration proceedings, and appearing in the High Court in both opposed and unopposed matters. She has extensive experience in banking litigation, having handled approximately 400 High Court matters, as well as in Road Accident Fund litigation and divorce proceedings. Her work further includes drafting comprehensive heads of argument in complex commercial disputes, preparing pleadings and legal documents, and reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, including shareholder and share purchase agreements.
Prior to joining the Bar, she held senior corporate roles at Vodacom (Pty) Ltd, Merchants (Vodacom), and MTN (Pty) Ltd. This corporate background provides her with a deep understanding of governance frameworks, risk management, and the commercial realities that influence legal decision-making.
She is a member of the Legal Practice Council, the South African Bar Association, the Institute for African Women in Law, and Mediation Pan Africa.
