Adv. Owen Mutshutshu Mulibana

Advocate Owen Mutshutshu Mulibana is an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa, admitted on 4 October 2007, with extensive experience across advisory, litigation and alternative dispute resolution matters. He holds a BA LLB from the University of Venda (2006) and has pursued continued professional development through specialised legal training with the Law Society of South Africa (LSSA – LEAD).

His additional qualifications include certificates in Drafting (2020), Opinion Writing (2022), Litigation Strategy (2022), Commercial Property and Evictions (2022), Civil Mediation (2025) and Arbitration (2025), reflecting a strong commitment to both courtroom excellence and effective dispute resolution.

Adv. Mulibana’s practice is focused on providing legal advice, litigation and mediation services in a wide range of complex matters. He has over 16 years’ experience in immigration and refugee law, including permit applications, unlawful deportations, citizenship acquisition, unfair rejection of refugee status and judicial reviews. He also brings 16 years’ experience in criminal law, encompassing bail applications, trials and appeal proceedings.

In civil litigation, Adv. Mulibana has approximately 15 years’ experience handling contractual disputes, unlawful arrest and detention claims, malicious prosecution, divorce matters, personal injury and Road Accident Fund claims, rescission of judgments, appeals, judicial reviews and variation of court orders. His practice further extends to labour law, with 8 years’ experience in unfair dismissal and unfair labour practice disputes.

He also advises and litigates in property law, particularly unlawful occupation and eviction matters, with 5 years’ experience, as well as administrative law, including matters arising under PAJA, PAIA and related legislation, also supported by 5 years’ experience.
